Flywheel to prop change in rating.

Hi, I have a 1984 90hp Johnno, model J90TLCRD, serial# 703226. I've asked before, does anyone know exactly, when these motors changed from flywheel rated to the prop rated? Thankyou if you can help.

The 84 90 was flywheel rated. In 1985 the 90 gained the 1984 115 port timing and was prop rated. You'd have to have a hull that responded to very small torque increases to see any difference.

1983 was the official year, at least for OMC, when engines went prop rated. As Dhadley said, your '84' is prop rated @ 90. A solid 90 it is too!

Thankyou for the info, and reply. I am nervous about doing the carbies and other thing suggested myself, so having a mech look as having other problems. Low WOT, etc. I ve been told I have sexy fingers, everything they touch, they f***. joking. Thanks again to all.
