Flywheel Tool

Hi all quick question, I am working on a 1973 6 hp Johnson model 6R73S full tune up points, coils ect, I have run in to a problem with this flywheel I need to know if there is a differnt holding tool for this model cause my holding tool is a hair to big, any tips are tricks to get this puppy done.

Have you tried a strap wrench available from Harbor Freight?

Make your own strap wrench. A piece of 2 x 2 lumber, a piece of nylon webbing, and a few nails or screws, and you have made a special tool that will work better than anything you can buy on the market. Make it long enough to double back as shown in the picture, and it will work on larger flywheels too.

I made one like Franks, but used an old belt as I had just broke it that day, must have been fate.

I made one from a leather belt, too. But my belt broke not from fate, but from fat. :eek:
