In an earlier post "25 Merc, at my wit's end with this thing", I said the flywheel wouldn't come off, even though I had it off couple weeks ago.
I'm using a 3/8" thick plate metal puller made with a 3/4" fine thread aircraft grade bolt through an aircraft grade nut with a 1/2" Snap-On impact wrench with 150 p.s.i. and a 1-1/4" Snap-On impact socket. The plate metal is starting to bend. This is all I can do. I don't have access to any tools with any more a** than what I'm using. Has anybody ever seen anything like this? I sure haven't. It's like the tapershaft has somehow welded itself to the flywheel or something. Am I missing something? Am I going to have to cut this thing off? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
JD

Got it. Beefed the plate up to 3/4"....that and 200 p.s.i. air pressure did it. Good thing too...the next step was going to be to remove it with my .308 Enfield.

Now that you have it off....

Take a decent hammer and give the tention bolt a tap after letting it sit for a while, don't pound on it, just a good solid square hit.

Next time you need to pull the fly wheel that is. :p

K
