I have an aluminum bass boat with a rotted transom. It's basically two pieces of 3\4 inch marine plywood glued togather. That'll last about 3 years here in florida. I've heard about a product called (excuse my spelling) flegasil or plegasil? It looks and works like foam, but once you have the shape you need there is a resin to apply that the foam sucks up then hardens just like fiberglass. Any ideas on this or anything else but plywood?

turtle, i replaced the transon in my 1960 Lonestar 14'. just used 3/4 ext ply, glued together, lots of glue, glassed it all around. it's been there like new for 5 years. besure you double seal any penetrations, i use a motor plate in the inside to keep the bracket bolts from breaking the surface.

There are many new products on the market, but I'm not aware of the one you are asking about. I can tell you, if it is availible it would most likely cost far more than the next 20 years worth of plywood will.

it's not a bad job. get a big card board box, to cut as a template, it's a lot cheaper than a wrong cut on plywood.
