Re: Foam under deck?

its completely up to you..
some argue that its better to pour it in and cut off any high spots.. pouring first will alleviate any concerns of the pressure from the foam axpansion blowing holes or lifting the deck..

other argue that is better to put the deck in and cut holes, out the bow high and pour one hole at a time allowing the foam to fill every nook. these people say its better because it will add to the structure of the boat as well as the deck. they also say that filling one hole at a time allows the other holes to be the pressure release points for any extra foam..

so your call on which you argee with.

Re: Foam under deck?

After reading a vast amount of information on this board, and just asking marines what to really do.....Frankly, my opinion would be (as what i have every intention on doing) Putting in the new floor, glassing the corners, bc i ripped out all the glass that was holding the wood in. Putting holes in the sub floor using a hole saw..(i used ACX from HD, 33 bucks a sheet..couldn't go wrong, it will outlast the length of time i anticipate owning the boat), that way i can replug after the foam expands.

Im not an engineer, and frankly engineers are just all books and it "looks" good on paper, but, i do believe the foam does create a structure support/pressure between the thin fiberglass bottom, and the thick floor on top.

If you read every post on this forum, about rotted floors, wet wood, damp transom's, everybody's direct advice is to rebuild it new.......toss your boat out if that's the case.
