fogging oil on engine block

Someone had posted a question about using WD-40 on the block to prevent rust.

What about using fogging oil? Instructions didn't indicate that it was bad for rubber (plug wires etc..)and it clearly stated on the bottle that it was suitable for internal and external use. The quote below isn't from my brand but the gist is the same.

"fogging oil is a blend of corrosion inhibiting additives designed to coat engine components during engine storage"

Sure hope I don't need an engine shampoo, the boat is wrapped up as tight as a bug in a rug for our lovely Canadian winters.

There is anti-corrosion spray available. It is superior to fogging oil because it dries to a waxy surface, which won't wash off as easy as oil, and doesn't collect dust.

The best waxy CPC is LPS3. If you want a thinner oily film, use LPS2. These products are the best available on the market. They are available at any Grainger store.

I have tested all of them, and I use LPS3. It stays on outdrive after a year in the water. I just use 3M cleaner/wax to take it off.

Thanks, I will use one of these products you recommend after a spring cleaning. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't hurting anything by using the fogging oil as an external rust inhibitor.
