Fogging oil question

I have a 5.7 Merc a1g2. How much oil should I go through before the engine chokes (or almost chokes) out? Full can/half can/1/3 can?

If the engine is idling too fast you may not be able to kill the engine. Idling properly a few second spritz should be all that's necessary. If you can't get it to quit, spray until the engine begins to bog and then turn the key off.

When you can't see anything for the smoke out the back, it's fogged.
