Fogging Oil

I have a lake house where my boats are located and unfortunately I do not get down there as much as I like. Sometimes I can go a month in the summer without going down there. The question: is there any benefit to using fogging oil on the boats each time I pull them out at the end of the weekend? As I understand it, fogging oil is supposed to help preserve the cylinders. Can over use hurt the engine?

Thanks!

I doubt in summer you will get rusty cyl's in a month. Probably could run some WD in the carb, and hurt nothing..if ya want. Fog for longterm storage..thick and sticky

If It was my boat ,I would mix some marvel mystery oil in my fuel and my crancase oil. That will add the protection you need in between usages.Charlie

Re: Fogging Oil

Thank you for the info. I have been using STABIL in my gas tank, so I will add some mystery oil to that and the engine oil.

Thanks.

On my lawn tractor (an older one with a kohler engine) carbon builds up on the valves, which causes it to miss badly when warmed up. A little "mystery oil" in the gas tank once in a while and no missing troubles.

I've been told that it will eventually gum up your carb. But I've been using it for 3 years now and no trouble with the carb yet.
