I saw many people rakeing leaves this weekend in a steady 25 MPH wind with regular gusts of 50+MPH

Seemed like a poor use of time to me :)

Re: FOOLISH HOUSEHOLD CHORES :)

I am lucky.... the wind blows across my property over 300 days a year from west to east. It makes for a pleasant breeze. On the east side of the property there are maple trees. I have a nice clean lawn..... and if the wind takes down a tree or branches they fall towards the east side.

I remember when I grew up on Long Island that there were people who would manicure the lawn and leave nice neat leaf piles.......... which we as kids would destroy!

I picked up the ones that are piled up against the fence and ignored the rest.

I too saw rakeing in the wind as being a waste of time...........not to mention the wind was blowing all my neighbors leaves over here.

Technically I never rake, just keep riding over leaves with the tractor. Usually have to do it every couple of days or else there are just too many and the blades dont want to turn.

Mrs. Danpemby asked me to go rake, It also was blowing 30 MPH, I gave her "The Look" and she dropped it. Today the wind is not as bad and most of the leaves are gone from the yard :)
