Re: FOOT OIL

The weep hole is so that when you take the boat out of the water the water from inside the leg area will drain out. If it were left full oof water it might freeze in winter and cause major damage.

When you drain the oil from the lower unit does it still look like oil or does it have the consistency of a milkshake?

The reason I ask is that many outboards when removed from the water after running will dribble a goo like oily stuff from the weep hole, or exhaust area.

If in fact your lower unit gear case is leaking out it's oil, it will require that it be pressure tested to determine where it's leaking then appropriately repaired.

Yes it is loosing all its oil. and it is coming from the weep hole.I looked at a few other motors and they dont have one. I thought it hade to be air tight.
