Hello all.
Well, I finally got around to rebuilding our deck this weekend. My stepson last week was good enough to help by taking the old one down. Here's the problem:

In disposing of the wood, he just piled it up on the other side of the house (instead of down by the woods where there isn't any grass). I know, it's my fault for not giving explicit instruction :) , but the damage is done. I have these huge brown spots where the grass looks totally dead where it was under the wood. My question is: is it able to be brought back to life without resodding? Or will I just have to break down and buy some more plugs. It's centipede grass, if that makes any difference.

Thanks for any info.

should come back on it's own after a while IMO.
maybe a little fertilizer will help speed it up.

i would make sure it's uncovered and let it be. keep it watered like you would new sod. it should bounce back fine. you'll know in a week or so.

it should grow back make sure it gets water and should be ok if not reseed it. our lawns out here usually burn up this time of year but come back when it cools down. we have bermuda grass and I can't kill the stuff

Re: ? for grass gurus

the speed of replies on here never ceases to amaze me. thanks to everyone; this time I got the answers I wanted to hear. I'm not in any hurry to fix it, if it will come back on its own because it is in a spot that no one much sees (thus my not noticing all week that the wood was covering it).

You guys are great. Thanks again!

Yeah, just give it lots of water. There's spots like that all over my yard. :D

That's the beauty of Centepede. Surrounding healthy spots will send out runners.

Methinks it's a wee bit too big, though. Don't know if you can resize a gif from another site. Fits ya to a tee, though.
Boom

Nice work, Boomyal. You can't really resize gifs, but I can certainly use it somewhere. Thanks!

On a separate note, I guess I'll have to start another thread about how to get rid of the weed, er, weeds in my yard. It looks like we've got some real wise weeders and grass gurus up ^^^^ there.

Buncha dern hippies, if'n ya ask me. ;) :D :p

Ahhh...grass!

I was a grass enthusiast in my younger days. I learned lots about the Mexican varieties back then, and was lucky to never have been arrested for it.

Then when I became an adult I went to college, and got a Bachelor's in---you guessed it---GRASS! Uhhh, the kind cows eat, though.

I'd suggest also that if you just water the area, it should recover quickly. Just keep an eye on it and don't allow any weeds to become established. A little organic fertilizer might be a good idea too.

-dd-
