After getting my $50-"64 Westfield,i found this "71 Gypsy on Craiglist for $100-!It seems to be pretty solid,but i'll find out when i get it home.I'm going to sell the engine,as it's too big anyways.Do these tri-hulls have wood floors,or poly/glass like my Westfield?I hope it's a good boat,i'll update in a day or two?

Man oh man wish I could find such deals, my MFG Westfield Regal I purchased in 1982 for $1200 bucks, got alot of use out of it, been through two kids and still going, in fact it'l be 3 mi. off Erie for perch tomorrow.
I don't know for sure but it seems i read that MFG's after 66' have foam under the deck, mine's a 67' so I'll not know until I cut it up.

Today i took my 2-1/2" holesaw and poped out a couple inspection holes one through the deck on the starbird side right next to the battery and also on port side same area, I located the stringers with a rubber mallot and got right between them, NO FOAM! nothing but clean dry fiberglass mesh YIPEE! sealed the plugs right back in with epoxie. I was surprised and the cracks in the deck are nothing to worry about they're just through the gelcoat.

So all MFGs don't have foam under the floor? I have it under the foredeck and gunwales in my '64 Niagara- always thought it was under the floors too, but never explored.

Also another thing that caught my mind- are there MFGs that do not have a fiberglass floor? I assumed they all did but the FiberGlassics site apparently doesn't have all the MFG info anymore. I am looking at a 17' probably 1969 MFG Sprint deep vee outboard and I can't find info on it. There is plywood on the floor I am told (have not seen boat yet) but I thought they all had fiberglass floors.

Mine does have a large section of foam on the cieling of the bow and also up under the cap at the rear and the up under the gunwales too. But one thing I'm sure of is no foam below the deck. The deck on mine is all fiberglass layered to about 1/4" thick. The deck has white gelcoat outer slip resistant surface with the MFG icon (shark?) molded into it.
