Motor..1978 Evinrude 70HP
Symptoms: Would not rev up but idled fine.
Findings: With Kevins help I found out the spark advance lever was stuck...it was not moving the timing base when throttle was applied.
Lubed up spring arm assembly which had hydraulic lock form old grease...that moves freely now.
Now I want to lube the timer base since it does not move with ease and I do see a bit of corrosion (not much).
It does turn but I can feel a little resistance on it which causes it to slowly make it's way to the full advanced position.
Can I safely just spray my penetrating lube oil (like a 3 in 1) on around the base to see if this works?
I do not have the tool to take flywheel off now but will get to that soon at which point I will clean / lube properly according to other threads on here.
Thank you.
