Re: For those with 21'-22' Islanders or Cheiftans etc..with 3.0L
I am running a adjustable prop from Westmarine, for got the name, but if you go to westmarine I think they are still selling them.
It is a 4 blade composit prop I think adjusts from 14-22 pitch.
I think I am running the 16 pitch, I am at 4600 rpms @ 28 mph (gps).
I have to get a new tach, the tach reading was from one of these digital tachs you wrap around the spark plug wire that I pulled off my 2 stroke 15hp Johnson.
I plan to up a pitch to lower the rpms to around 4300 rpms. I think my manual says wot 4300-4600 rpms. I have a 2007 crate engine from Marine Power.
Even with a high pitch prop I have never exceeded 28mph wot.
I am always around 26-28 mph wot at sea level.
This is with full load of fuel, kicker motor, 3-4 people, fishing gear.

If I was going to buy a new prop I think I would look at the pirahna prop with replacement blades.
