I just bought this boat and am wondering if anyone knows by looking at the picture if this a 20" shaft or 25" shaft? The engine is a '98 Force 120hp. Would one be able to tell from the serial number which shaft it has? I'm not near the boat now so I can't more pictures or look at it at the moment. Thanksboat2.jpg

I also have two off topic questions. What spark plugs are recommended for this engine? Also I need a spark plug wire for the #1 cylinder. Can I use any wire that will fit the coil and plug, or is it a special wire? Thanks

QL76V(rfi) or L76V
Calls for either 7mm or 8mm plug wire.
Check yours and see what's on there.
Any auto parts store should have what you need.
Take one of he old ones when you go.

Thank you. As far as the plugs, will either of those two work, or is it dependent on what ignition system my engine has? How do I tell what it has?

I recently asked the same spark plug question and an unintended firestorm arose. The only difference, as I understand it, is the QL76V produces less radio frequency interference if that is a concern for you. BTW, I got my plugs from my favorite online auto parts source for barely more than a dollar each. Send me a PM if you want the name.

I believe it became a hot topic when someone mentioned the standard plugs are a less of a load on the electrical, the surface gap plugs were made for these engines not standard.

How do I tell if my engine is RFI or something else? I just want to make sure I get the correct spark plugs. Thanks

Just use the ones for it, I haven't had a problem with the RFI in surface plugs.
