Past few days I posted a few questions about my 120 force. Ive replaced the hub in the propeller, I also had some one out to check for rott in transom. My problem is that the engine pops up in the engine bracket when i get over 2000 rpm, Under 2000 rpm it sounds and runs fine. Now I have to tell you that this is a twin setup, and the motor still does this even with other one off. Also this engine has a leaking trim, but has been leaking for almost a year now, could this cause this problem,. One other thing I put boat on trailer and connect hose put boat in gear and prop spins fine, no noises does this eliminate lower unit Please help want to go fishing!! If any body has correct fix ill take you on a great fishing trip...

When you say pops up. Do you mean the motor pivots on the tilt tube ( kicks up in the same direction as the tilt would move the motor)?

Clanton; yes the engine is tilting up the tilt tube just enough that when it comes down it makes a crash noise not a clunking noise; well not a gear clunking noise but a engine falling noise i hope you know what i mean

THis what I think. The Tilt and trim is what holds the motor in place when you place in reverse. You said T&T was leaking. If T&T was leaking it would allow engine to move. The engine is misfiring, water pushing engine back, engine powers back up pushing engine back on trim rod. Engine jumping OUT&IN gear, water again pushing engine off of trim rod,and when the gear catchs slams the engine back on the trim rod. T&T motor runs intermitting lifting engine off of trim rod, and when power appiled over 1500 rpms Tilt valve releases and engine back on trim rod.<br /> I like the gear problem best.

See my last post. Jumping in -out of gear. If you remove cowling ,have some watch shift lever you may see it move.
