Force 120 carb leaking

Thank you in advance for any help. I have just purchased a '92 force 120hp. It seems to be running well up to about 30 mph (1/2 to 3/4 throttle) but the the lower carb starts to spit out fuel from the top (appears to be a over flow type valve - the opening is not labelled in the manual). When squeezing the primer bulb it will only leak from this spot if a lot of pressure is applied. It does not seem to leak at lower speeds. I have pulled both carbs and cleaned them thoroughly with cleaner. The neeedles do not seem to be sticky and the seats look clear. The needles are rubber tipped and seems to be in good shape. Asked a mechanic about replacing the seats but he told me that this wouldn't help. I've searched this forum and read about bending the float. Afraid to do so at this point for fear of causing additional problems. Any suggestions? Thanks again.

Forgot to mention - a friend also inspected the reeds and these don't seem to be cracked, chipped, or damaged. Also, when the carb starts to spit, the motor sounds a little different. Hard to describe as I'm new to boating and small engines.

Re: Force 120 carb leaking

All I can say is that I had the same problem last weekend. I have a 3 carb Chrysler 70HP and I had fuel coming out of the same hole your talking about on the middle carb.

My problem was that the float was not moving freely (binding)on the retaining pin so it would not allow the float to go all the way up and close the needle valve.

IMP, it sounds like the float is not going high enough to close the needle valve tight.
