Force 120 lower unit

Will a 1997 force 120 lower unit fit a 1990 engine? I'm not sure when merc started making changes.

NO, I don't think so. At a minimum, drive shaft splines are different and as far as I know, you can not swap drive shafts. I am also reasonably sure that by 1997 the lower units were Mercury. --different shape and different bolt pattern.

Thanks I was thinking the same thing but had to ask. My unit is usable I need a reverse gear and a seal kit. What about parts? like gears and I am also needing a statter for the engine. Can you tell me a good place other than Ebay to find parts for this unit?
