Hi all. I have a force 120 in a jet sport, and it seems to be "flat" at WOT.You can hear it die out a little. Its difficult to accurately set the timing because of the limited access..but does this sound like a likly cause? New red stator fitted.New plugs, recent overhaul,No tach, yep i have the manual and have followed its timing and carburetor settings.
Maybe the rev limiter?
Thanks for any advice.

Re: force 120 timing?

I don't think that your problem is the rev limiter, but if you want to check it, just unplug the black-with-yellow striped wire coming from the rev limiter. If that cures your problem, then you were right.

Your timing should be fine as long as you did it according to the manual.

The first thing that I thought of while reading your post was that maybe your throttle cable is pulling the butterfly valves in the carbs past full throttle and starts to close off some. If you back off a little on the throttle, does it speed up for you?

Have you checked to see if one or more carburetor chokes are hanging or misadjusted shut?

If it's none of these, then I would check compression and check for good and regular sparks on all 4 cylinders.

Good luck.
