I was out yesterday and I ran on to a silt bank, I tried to power off but I got stuck further and my engine overheating alarm sounded, so I sat there until the tide came in and I managed to free the boat. Now I have no water out of the pee hole and the speedo reading is stuck at 30 MPH does any one have ideas I kicked up a lot of silt trying to break free. The engine is on a Maxum 1900XR 1998 year

thanks

Re: Force 120 water problem

Probably managed to tear up the impeller pretty good and clog the water passages. I would replace the water pump, remove the thermostats and flush the system to remove any silt still left in there. Clean out pee hose, too As for the speedo, remove the tubing from the speedo and the pick-up(Pitot) and flush it out also. Hopefully when you remove the tube the speedo will come back to zero. If not, you may have to get another one, as it probably has silt in it also. Don't run the motor anymore until you find the cause of the problem.

You'll find a small hole on the leading edge of the gearcase just above the bullet. It'll be clogged with silt. Backblowing thru the speedometer hose with compressed air might unclog it. If not, a straightened paperclip can be safely used to help dig it out.
