Re: FORCE 120HP. TEMP GAUGE

This is silly but what I have seen done on an older Evinrude is a small 'Z' shaped bracket with on hole in one end and a tapped hole in the other for the sender.
The one end was bolted down using a Head bolt and the sensor was threaded down until it touched the head.
I thought it was cheezy but that was a factory installed temp gauge. I done have one on my boat so I don't know if this is a standard procedure for outboards.
Honestly, according to the gauge the boat was running at temp. so maybe it is accurate this way.

I THINK WHEN YOU HERE THE BUZZER GO OFF IN THE THROTTLE BOX IT MAY BE TO LATE? I KNOW MINE WORKS TESTED IT TO GROUND; IT WHISTLE; BUT ON THE OTHER HAND IF YOU HAD A TEMP. GAUGE ON BOARD YOU CAN SEE IF YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE A PROBLEM BEFORE IT REALLY HAPPENS OR BEFORE ITS TO LATE.

Look for a port in the water jacket near the head,or exaust port plate, with a plug in it (a threaded plug). An auto-type temp gauge sender that will physicaly fit in this port will work, provided, the gauge is compatable. Auto stores sell them under-dash,after-market temp gauges with the sender. The trick is to make sure it fits before purchase. However, they generally come with a good set of threaded adapters, both metric and SAE.

I think this port is on the exaust port plate on yours, but not sure.
To make sure you have the right one, crank it up with the plug removed. If ya get wet,you got it

If head does not have threaded hole for sender. Do what Tony said. I think Teleflex still sells these kits. Try www.teleflex.com e-mail or call for correct part number, you will hear from them quickley.
