What should the normal running temperature of a Force 120 engine be? Im' thinking about
taking the Thermostat out to eliminate any problems during my vacation. Does the Thermostat
really make that much difference in engine performance?

Thanks!

Operating temperature is approx. 130 to 160 f.
Alarm goes off at approx. 170 f.
To be sure, shoot the head and manifold with a handheld laser thermometer after a run.
Don't remove the thermostat. Pressurized cooling system maintains operating temperature and ensures all areas of block are cooled.

Re: Force 120HP Temperature

Dan K - how does the Thermostat maintain pressure. When it opens there wont be any pressure anyway. Im assuming that most of the time the Thermostat is open or partially open when the engine reaches operating temp ------- I was in the process of putting in a pisser because my engine does have a plug at the top of the engine and it was recommended by another Force owner of which he says he has no problems - works great. I wanted something for me to verify that the pump was working. Every Force engine seems to have its own quirk .... mine seems to be water pumps - they dont seem to last very long and I dont know when thy will go out next. Do you think the pisser will reduce pressure in the block and is not a good idea?

From personal experience, since I installed the pisser, I now know the pump is pumping and have had no overheating problems in over 50miles of wide open operation and idle. Thermstat operates like a car and opens or closes according to engine temperature. Pump pressure must be good.
