Force 120LD91D - US Marine Lube and Sealant Substitutes?

Hello all,

My Seloc manual references US Marine Lube T-2961 for all lubrication, other than T-2987-1 for prop shaft. I understand that US Marine is no more.

Any brand/type suggestions I can use as substitutes?

Any of the Marine rated grease or oil available here on IBoats or other sites are adequate. Also check your local marina, sporting store etc. The Marine rated lubricants are better suited work in the presence of water. The automotive versions are not. If you want to go all out, the synthetic Marine versions are the best but are also the most expensive. I myself don't have any loyalty to any particular brand. I usually shop based on cost. Only place that I go all out on is the full synthetic 2-stroke oil that I mix with the fuel. Other folks on this forum probably have their opinions too.

I use any White Lithium based Marine grease.Doesn't seem to gum up as much.
WD-40 and a light oil on the steering cable.Spray White Lithium also.
The Forces are about 27 years old now,some newer.I check the lower unit oil after using the boat 2 times.
The seals can go in a second.

After going full synthetic oil with oil additive on my oil change in our sentra last weekend im all for synthetics. Gained some get up and go! If this is the same with lower lube maybe friction can be lowered and a few mph can be gained? I will do a comparison test this spring.

Jerry I feel the same and want to do the same. How do you do it? Do you remove the drain plug and watch for water? If no water do you put plug in and top off with lube?

So use a lithium based marine grease at all lube points, including prop shaft?
