After I finaly repaired electrical problem with one cylinder boat ran great about 35 MPH max.
But after few days it lost speed and power. Once, lower carburettor started spitting fuel all over the place and motor choked. I solved that by working on idle turned the screw on lower carburettor to the right and carburettor stopped spitting fuel. Then I tried to return the screw like it was before ( to work nice on idle ). I thought that I did that. I was on a plane for 5 minutes and suddenly it lost power again and some metal sound started to ring from inside if the motor. I checked compression and top 2 cylinders have 120 but 3rd has 60 and lowest has 0 . What to do now ?
Motor starts good, works, can not plane, where to start? What could be the cost of repair?

Boat is bayliner 19feet

Thanks

It would appear that you went too lean and flipped rings in the two lower cylinders fed from the carb you adjusted. You are probably looking at least 2 new pistons/rings, gasket kit, machining on #3 and #4 bores (if salvageable), and some sweat equity. I don't have prices, but would think $500 at minimum, if you do everything except the machining.

Take the head off and check the damage???
Remove the side covers and look at the pistons too.

Too bad your so far away.

If you have lots of $ wrap it up and send it to me:)
I'll fix it for about $1000 U.S.Depending on the parts???

yea that is funny Jerry, it would be closer to send it to the moon than USA from here but could be a longshot.

So my problem is now to fix it or not. The cheapest thing is to repair it but who knows what will next go wrong, leg, propeler, electric...
If I buy second hand newer 4 stroke motor it is also expensive but it is expensive sport.
So I think I will try to open it with some help with local mechanic and see what can be done. If the cylinder is not damaged I am ready to order pistons and rings from USA, I found some on ebay and maybe you Jerry have some parts to send.

Any way, is there some good explanation somewhere written when opening motor? So I don't make mistake in some stepps?
It seems that I will continue to go to squid fishing which is very popular in my area with my 3,5HP Tomos motor, that one never let me out and it is also 20 years old.

Get a factory manual.
They go into detail that the cheaper ones don't.
