The other day by mistake I went to the Marine shop and bought synthetic oil for the oil/gas mixture 50:1 ratio and it ran fine all day. I took it out tonight and it was fine on the way out but when I was coming in I had it about 30 when all of a sudden it sounded like the engine wound out and immediately stopped. I went to turn it over again and it started and runs but now I hear a grinding noise/ pinging at idle and when I try to go into gear it wont move? Does anyone know what this problem may be and if so could the different oil have caused this problem? All responses are greatly appreciated...

Re: Force 125 help

i would look at the lower unit ,you said it wont move when you put it into gear,i would statr there.while the motor is not running put the throttle in gear and try to spin the prop ,if it spins toy most likely have a lower unit problem

Re: Force 125 help

I'd check the lower unit like shifflet said. I'm thinking it could be a drive dog problem.

Re: Force 125 help

Thanks for the reply guys....It's just that I can't give up on this after all the battle and I'm almost possessed to get this fixed!!! I hope it's not the lower unit but if it is the Drive Dog how would I go about checking it and see? I'm a man on a mission and after three months of this that and the other thing there is no way I'm winterizing the engine knowing there's a problem. You all know how I feel and I'm determined. To all I thank you again for being so great this summer with all my posts and you are truly professionals in your own rights!! -Paul
