So today was test day after the complete interior redo. When we had it at the shop where i work at we tried cranking the motor. It never would start. We went through the checklist of thing to check for. But all of a sudden a small poof a blue smoke came from the 2 ignition packs or at least i think that is what they are called. We pulled it apart and noticed a yellow burn mark behind one. My question is, what are they called so i can find and buy one and is this even worth trying to fix. Also i have to assume to 4 going up and down are coil packs.

I would try and find the part numbers
the last model chryslers ( in that size ) had that system,

they may be the same, if so you may not have to sell your first born offspring ( that is a joke lol )

some people give away old Chrysler parts
others will throw them at ya...

you may be able to find new ones either here or cdielectronics

Tassi 1, where would one find said part numbers? This motor is an 1984 model and has been rebuilt from the lower to the upper minus the electronics...I got the joke. I really have put of time and effort into this boat.

they are force cd units, I believe you can get them at outboardignition.com, need to check your wiring to make sure it is correct, they don't just go up in smoke for no reason!

Power pack.
The black ones were developed after the older blue ones were found inferior?
I never really saw the difference??

Look on e-bay
Yours is pretty specific for just buying and replacing, yours has plug in connectors.
But you can buy one and splice it in
This is the newer part # that you can buy.. The other is the old part# NLA
You can use either blue or black.
