force 150 HP general questions

I am looking at purchasing a 1992 Bayliner walk around with a 1992 Force 150 HP outboard. The guy that has it says it is the same as a Mercury but without oil injection. I looked at several web sites that do not not appear to agree with this? Evidently, these were Chrysler outboards that Mercury bought out. My questions are 1: Are these good motors? 2: Is there anything mercury on it? 3: Is the lower unit Mercury? 4: Are parts readily available? 5 Are there any noted or particular problems with these? 6: Should I purchase it? Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much, Dave

1996-1999 mostly mercury parts only the blocks really different. Many say these arent that bad motors and can be buy. Yes a merc,johnson,evin,yam,honda would be my first choice but sometimes you dont get a choice the force might be ok. Your going to have to replace fuel pump diaphram,get a manual,do a compression test. You could just buy the boat sell the motor and put on new honda 115hp at ten grand lol.
