Force 150 Speedometer hole / oil leak lower unit

The (what I'm guessing is) the speedometer hole on my lower unit is draining a small amount of lower unit oil (smells like cat pee, is yellow etc). Its directly on the front of the lower unit and about 1/8in size in diameter.

I have two questions.

Any idea what the problem would be. I noticed my lower unit oil had water in it so I replaced the seal on the screws (drain, vent, fill) and it no longer has water in the bottom but the oil is still slightly milky looking. After a week of not using it I noticed some oil on the garage floor (correct color/not milky so I'm guessing leaking at the top of the oil cavity)

Also since I have a seperate pitot tube for the speedometer can I seal this hole up with epoxy or is it necessary for anything else?

Thanks.

There is no pitot tube hole for a speedometer on the lower unit. The smell you are referring to (cat pee) is probably the lower unit gear oil. It has a very distinctive smell.

On the hole on the side of the forward part of the lower housing, you should be able to see a screw head. What ever you do, do now remove that screw all the way. It's the shift lever pin. If you remove it all the way, you may have to dis-assemble the lower unit to get it back into place.

The other hole is located underneath the front part of the lower unit. That is the lower unit drain plug. It has an allen screw pipe thread plug. Some units may have a screw plug with a washer. This can be removed without any dire consequences. Only thing that you loose will be some gear oil. Sounds like it may need to be tightened, or if it has a seal, the seal may need to be replaced. If it is an allen screw, it may be stripped and you may have to drill it out and re-tapped for the next larger size allen screw.

Not sure which seal it was but I bought a complete lower unit seal replacement kit and replaced all of 'em.

Also replaced the impeller and the impeller gaskets.

Ran it 3 times and no water in the oil!
