Force 150 Stator Check

I isolated the 3 sets of wires that come off the stator and go to the proper terminal connection for each cd pack.
One set reads 870 ohms (brn/blu and brn/yel)
2nd set reads 1400 ohms
3rd set just blinks and reads inffinity (brn/grn/blu and brn/grn/yel)

Is this normal?
Can I use set #1 to power #3 Cd module as well as #1 module?

I got the water leak fixed, PNW helped me alot with this problem...

Re: Force 150 Stator Check

I just noticed a funny smell coming from under the flywheel. You know that funky electrical meltdown smell..... Could a shorted cd pack cause the stator to go out. That was my very 1st symptom. The kill wire on the terminal block was smoking and melting the insulation. That is when my problems began...

If your kill switch was smoking, you probably had a CDI meldown. This can cause a stator failure.

Unfortuneately, you need all three circuits to work on the stator. You cannot power two modules with one circuit. Check ebay, greatlakesskipper.com, and CDI repairs for a new or used stator.

Re: Force 150 Stator Check

Sounds like the stator is definitely toasted. Before you fire it up again, need to check each CD Module to see which one is bad. Like John suggested, I would think that one of the CD modules is also toasted. Running it with a bad CD module may damage the stator again. Since the third set of stator wires shows infinity or an "open", I would suspect the CD attached to those wires may be the bad one. That's just a guess though. I would look very closely at the melted Kill circuit wires and see if you can tell if there is one particular wire that is melted. The CD module attached to that wire is probably bad.

Re: Force 150 Stator Check

I already replaced a bad cd module (Cyl #3) and I may still have a stator problem left to take care of. Hopefully the bad stator did not ruin my new Cd...
