Force 1988 125hp Model C?

I hope this is not a stupid question. I have a 1988 125hp Force/Bayliner Serial # 2225, Model 1251X8C. I am looking at a new thermostat and some suppliers say "1988 all", others say there is a separate serial number for a "C" model.

Am I correct to assume the C at the end of my model number 1251X8C makes the a "C" model and therefore I must always be careful of the "All models" designation?

Re: Force 1988 125hp Model C?

For your thermostat you should be specific with a model 125 C or D. It's kinda hard to generalized with all the parts because some parts fit all 125 models but some are not like the thermostat. Anyways, the original part # for the tstat is F664068 which is compatible to both 125's C and D models and even in some 120 and 85 HP models.

You can always refer to these guys for part numbers:

Thank you Jiggz! The link is very helpful.

I assume from your response that my motor is a "C" model. I will reference this whenever I am searching for parts or asking for information.

Re: Force 1988 125hp Model C?

Actually it is designated by the last letter in the model number, i.e. 1251X88C, the 125 stands for the rated HP - 125, the 88 is the year, 1988 and the "C" is the model sequence.
