Am trying to find a shaft for a Force 35hp outboard motor, Model #357F7B. Also was told that to replace one there needs to be shims and seals installed as well. Anybody offer any help on this? I'm located in the Charlotte, NC area, Thnx! bozzanddww3@yahoo.com

Re: Force 35 Drive shaft

No need to worry about shims. Seals are always a concern. So is the surface of the shaft where they ride. If there's a groove, the seal won't help much. You can use one from 35, 40, 45, 50, and I think even 55Hp models of West Bend, Chrysler and Force anywhere from the 1960s into the mid 90s. I have seen a few an inch shorter than others. You'll want to check that. If it's too short, only the tips of the splines engage the crankshaft splines. Soon as you put thrust to the prop, it spins out the spline tips.
