I just got the impeller i ordered, i took leg off engine took old pump out, of course....wrong pump.
Good thing though anyway cuz i noticed slight pitting on inside of my impeller housing.

i was thinking

option A: exchange the impeller kit for right one and buy housing seperate (WHICH I CANT FIND..HELP!_

Option B: return for cash back $40+ and buy kit that includes houseing. (NEED HELP FINDING CHEAPEST ONE)

Also need the long round style coil. Only ones ive located are $100+ x's 2! (mine are cracked slightly)

im considering dumping this turd and finding a cheap 50hp Evinrude/johnson on CL

Im trying to stay within budget of what its worth!

Do you happen to have a model number for the engine and the year?

That would be 507X6A

I put this all in one of your other threads, but here it is again.
They are all available at a Mercury dealer.
And probably nowhere else.

Impeller is Mercury part number F433065-2 $18

Complete water pump kit is part # FK1073 $145

Individual water pump parts are available here:

Mercury, Mercruiser, Force, etc. - GEAR HOUSING - FORCE 1986 50 H.P.

Your ignition coil should be 803830T , $135 each.

I have no idea what the coils look like on a Force 50hp but would offer this: On a 12VDC negative ground ignition system...a coil is a coil, is a coil. Yep there are some motorheads that would disagree with me but in theory, I'm right. Usually, ANY ignition coil made for a two-stroke engine (less dwell time) will work. There are differences between HEI and points and since I don't know what a Force 50 is, I can't make a blanket statement but in general I can help.

Most point systems usually generate about 15-20,000 volts when the points opens and the field in the primary winding's collapses. On HEI...up to 30-50,000 volts. As long as a coil will fit physically (critical in mag systems) it doesn't matter. In HEI systems location doesn't matter either.

Don't worry about a bit of pitting on the inside of the pump housing.
Unless it's REALLLLY bad???
Mine are 25 this year and have a lot of pitting but they still work as good as a new one.
I have a housing if you really want to change. But it might be in worse shape than yours(pic)?
Does it run?? If so seal the cracks in the coils and go boating.

it would seem to me ANY amount of pitting would act as sandpaper and detroy a new impeller.
I hope i AM wrong because it would save me the $100+ that the housing cost!

It's not good but you can still use it.Mine are like that.
On your camera is there a setting for closeup shots?
Take another pic of the housing setting next to a ruler.
I'm pretty sure the housing I have is better.

I'd agree with jerryjerry05, pitting isn't a big problem unless it's terribly bad. What I'm seeing in these pics doesn't appear excessive. Mainly, I'd say that as long there aren't any "crusties".. that being mineral deposits, or the white stuff in the pics. Get that stuff off so all that is left is actual pitting. Buy a quality lithium grease (not spray), impeller, and seal the pump housing. You'd be good for this season, maybe two. I've seen a lot worse.
