FORCE 50HP OUTBOARD QUESTION!!

I HAVE NOTICED WHEN I REMOVED THE COVER FOR MY 50HP FORCE ENGINE THAT 2 BLACK CYLINDER LOOKING PARTS WERE CRACKED FROM THE TOP , THOSE BLACK CYLINDERS ARE IN A BRACKET AND EACH ONE OF THEM HAS A SPARK PLUG CONNECTION TO ITS END, I JUST WANTED TO KNOW THE NAME OF THOSE 2 CYLINDRICAL TUBES , AND HOW MUCH DO THEY COST OR WHERE CAN I FIND THEM????

those are coils, you may want to get a repair manual if you plan on doing your own repairs.

bigbux<br />those are ignition coils just because they are cracked doesnt mean they are bad if you see spark grounding to the block or lose ignition i would recommend replacing the coil at fault. i can help you with any parts you need for your motor. thanks, bret forceparts@yahoo.com

Cracked coils eventually fail...If you happen to be out on the lake and need the engine to perform and it does not...this could spell disaster for you and whom ever might be with you.<br /><br />Play it safe...change the coils.<br /><br />TMD

I have the same problem with my free (co-worker gave to me) 1987 force 50. I just picked it up late yesterday and looked it over visually after work today and took some pic's. The motor looks brand new but that really doesn't mean a thing. Also I have not had a chance to do anything with it besides take the pic's.
