Force 50, 1988 model 507Y8D
Motor will start fairly easily when cold but after it warms up, it takes a tremendous amount of cranking to get it going. In order to get it to start, we fiddle around with the idle needle on the front of the carb and usually it starts. We cranked it so much it burnt a ground wire and blew a cdi module. (I think we have that fixed)
The guy we bought the boat from says it has never had a wrench to it, and it has sat for 3 or so years really without running.
I need to know if my course of action is correct before I continue. I ordered the gaskets and diaphragm to rebuild the fuel pump. I also ordered a carb gasket kit so we can take the carb apart and give it a good cleaning and replace the gaskets. Once done, I plan to go through the procedures to set the idle and the high speed (if it has one). We have a manual for it, just havent dug that deep into it yet.
Any other advice?
