As alot of you know I'm not a boat mechanic but yall have showed me alot on here and I want to say thanks. The boat has been setting up for about 4 years. It was winterized before they parked it. I had to put a trim motor on and I changed all the fluids. I cheched the water pump impeller and very thing really looks great. I started it up it runs fine for about 10 seconds then it quits. If I choke it or give it gas, it runs untill it runs out of gas. It sound like it only runs the gas in the line then it quits. I changed the gas also changed the fuel filter. So do you thuik it is the carb. I was thinking about starting it up and spray it reall good with carb cleaner. Good idea or not?

Also I have an thermostat ordered for it. Is that it on the back of the engine bolted to the head. Right beside the spark plugs, just a little higher.

Thanks,
Tucker

Be sure the gas line is connected properly.Be sure the tank vent is opened and clear. If it stays running if you squeeze the primer bulb you may need a fuel pump rebuild.Unfortunately after sitting all that time you may have to go through the fuel system from tank to carb with special attention to cleaning.
Check filters,connectors and connections.

The primer bulb stays tight. It might be my vent. It has a built in tank and the I have not looked at the vent.

I mean if you squeeze the primer bulb when it starts to stall does it help it to stay running.
If the vent was plugged the bulb would tend to collapse as the motor ran.
If the fuel pump was weak squeezing the bulb would help it stay running.

Well I got the motor to run but it wants to die. If I push in the ignition key it will stay running. Its like a primer. Does it have a fuel pump or something. where the fuel line goes into the motor. I know it has a filter there but what is behind that?

Thanks,

Tucker
