Re: Force 75 HP

That is pretty new, I think it would have been made by Mercury and they are better than the old ones.

Smokyforce-
You are going to get such a wide range of answers to your question. Many people have answered this same question before in earlier posts. So if you need an answer right away, do a search for this topic.
I have a '93 120, and I like it. It has it's problems, but it is easy to work on. The engine runs great and runs smooth. Some Forces do not. If you are looking for a hands-off motor, don't buy a Force. If you don't mind getting a little dirty when needed, it is a fine engine if maintained well. The only problem I had with mine was a rotted diaphram from the engine sitting for a few years ($1.50), and new carb gaskets ($2.56). Right now I need to rebuild both carbs, but my engine is 9 years old. ($60)
That's it.
Hope this info. helps.

Thanks sho305 and ewalth. I will most probably buy it, since the price they ask for is not bad.

See you.

Re: Force 75 HP

I have a 1987 85HP FORCE and have had no major problems in the last 5 years since I owned it. I know mine is a little older, but do the routine maintanance and it should be good to you.

I might over do it, but I like to wash the thing down, spray WD-40 on the exterior, flush it and grease fittings and steering shaft a lot. I also change the lower unit oil about every 3-4 months, take the prop off every month and grease the shaft etc..

I have done these things and it has treated me good and I run it every weekend in saltwater.
