Hi, I am new to this forum and sure hope you can help. Just bought a 88 Bayliner with a 85 force, did normal maintance and I think I pulled the wrong screw for the drain plug. Did a search on this forum on the 85 force and came across a post that did what I did and open what I thought was the drain on the lower right side. After reading post went out to check, put in reverse and went out and turned prop and there was tension, same with forward, nentral was free, please give me some good new that I did not disconnect the shift.

Lind***

Re: Force 85 HP lower unit

The drain plug is located on the very front of the lower unit on the bottom. It is a small allen wrench fitting.

You most likely disconnected the shift pivot screw. I am no force expert, but most of forums I have read require you to disassemble the lower unit to fix your mistake.

Anyway, if you get that fixed by some help of others and you have problems removing the lower unit drain plug (I always do). E-mail me at stephenwinston@atrsearch.com and I can give you some tips.
