Hey folks,
I am trying to fix several problems with my older force 85 (Engine is an '87). My charging voltage (verified using several different multimeters) is only 12.9 volts at WOT / Max rpm. (My max rpm as per another thread is only hitting around 3800 rpm)
While I realize that as long as its higher than what the battery sits at (usually around 12.5) that means its charging but that doesnt really seem quite right to me as I've read that some people install voltage regulators to fix the high charge voltage on their motors (16.5 volts or higher). And my understanding is that ideal charging voltage is 14.5 volts.
I have replaced the rectifier (cheap, from radioshack) But I believe that my stator may be fried or at least on its way out. Does anyone know how to properly test the stator? I've read several other threads but they were all very confusing as to what wires I should be checking resistance and dva with.
Ordered a manual off amazon so that should be here later this week but I want to fix stuff now!!!!
