Hey guys!

Thanks to your help she's now running like a beast! Fuel pump diaphragm must have been the issue! :) Although I spent most of my short sea trial today airborne! (air trial!?!?)

Coming back in she will not tick over and if you drop the revs right down and then give her a hand full she gives a cough, cough, spluter, stop! - poor thing!

What do you recon now? Would that be tuning? I have put a glass spark plug in two of the cylinders and the colour seen is a nice blue colour.

Any clues?

What about that diaphragm again? It didn't look right when I put it together - it was kinda crumpled at the edges, but I assumed that would pull up with the screws?

All help as per usual very much appreciated!

I would look at the carbs.
Well, looking at them won't really help, you will likely need to tear them down and clean them out.

Try running it and right before it is starting to die, hit the choke.
If this helps, you are likely running a bit lean, could be from clogged carbs.

Well I cleaned out the sediment bowls, the big jets looked HUGE! so I considered them not blocked!
I would have a go at tuning them; but the glass spark plug would suggest that they are burning correctly already.
I'll try the choke thing on my next outing this weekend and let you know!

Thanks for the help so far!

Ok...well here is the latest.....
We stripped the carbs, but that made no odds.
RE-built the fuel pump (again) and then it was well duff (again)....so there was a coincidence that every time we re-built the fuel pump it would make or break the engine.
Pulled the various plugs and found No.2 was not sparking again.
So we swapped the coils and found that didn't help....next we swapped the power packs and that may have done it??? we had bright sparks....
HAD being the operative word....the bendix rubber bush is now screwed...so it's time to order some new parts before we can try again!

fingers crossed!

Told you I'd keep you informed!

Off to 'search' the forum about this bendix issue now!
