Force 90 L Drive

Hi I am trying to change the water pump in the lower unit of my chrysler force 90 outdrive.I have disconnected the shift cable took out all the bolts in the lower unit and it only seems to drop about an inch apart.Did I miss something?? Does the U joints stay in place or do they drop with the lower unit??Does anyone have a brakedown of the outdrive I can look at??I just bought the boat and I think there are Parts missing.HELP!!!! THANKS Joe

You need to remove the exhaust snout.
Then there is a screw up in the pocket, above the exhaust snout, that must be removed.

And the gearshift linkage and pivot pin all have to be removed.

I have all the bols out even the hidden one under the exhaust snout.I have the shifter disconnected it seem to be stuck on the main shaft.I would like to know where does it connect?Halfway up the top housing or at the U-Joints?I don't want to start prying or beating on it until I know where it connects at.HELP PLEASE

This place has 4 sch's for the 90hp L drive. Hope it helps
Click on your year, then you serial number range, then pull down to the bottom of the list and click on "U joint and housing"

Just want to say you guys are great.All the info I get here is the best and I hope someday I can help too.I run into alot of problems working on boats so maybe I can help someone out.THANKS TO ALL THAT REPLYED and keep up the good work.Joe
