Hopefully between our two posts, one of us will get an answer. I'm having the same problem with my 150hp Force, cept my stickers still there but too faded to read.

Would you please let me know if you get a reply? If you'd like, I'll do the same for you. Email me at w_huisman@yahoo.com alright?

Laters!

Wade

Re: Force 90hp.Where is engine number?

I got a reply from someone named roscoe who's been trying to help me out from the beginning of my mess. He said he has looked all over for a model or a serial number someplace other than on the transom bracket tag on his boat and hasn't found a thing.

However, he told me that the model numbers are either 7 or 9 digits and each model# starts with "150........."

I'm gonna call a dealer here in a minute...hang on.....

Larry, the first 2 digits on your motor's model number should be "90" , representing your horsepower.

Wade's will be "150" respectively.

I just contacted Mercury via email, on your behalf. Hopefully they can help. I will post their reply here.

Here is the response I recieved from Mercury.

"We appreciate the
opportunity to respond to your concerns.

To locate the proper serial number for your engine check your swivel
bracket on the starboard side of engine for serial number plate. If you
can not locate it there then check the side of the powerhead for the serial
number plate.

We hope this information is helpful to you.

Sincerely,

Mercury Outboard Customer Service"

Hey guys. Finally getting back to ya from this morning....

I called a Mercury Outboard dealer this morning. I told them my situation, and they said they'd have no problem ordering the parts I needed without me giving them my model# or serial#. Here's what I ordered and the prices....

Parts for a 1989 150hp Force
Fill & Vent screw seals (3) $ 1.80
Impeller $27.95
Upper&Lower pumphouse gaskets(2)$ 3.90
Gear Case Seal Kit $71.95
Pump Housing $16.95
Tax $ 4.90
S&H $ 5.95
TOTAL $133.40

Parts should arrive around the end of next week. Then they real fun begins. I'll probably be posting all kinds of questions. Thanks Roscoe! Good luck Larry.

PS: What's the side of the powerhead, where Mercury said to check for the serial number?
