I have a force 89 - 85 HP. It's a 3 cylinder. The upper 2 carbs don't have nearly the suction as the lowest one ; good spark ,compression etc.
fuel supply OK. My mechanic thinks air is exchanging between upper two cylinders and recommends taking block apart and rebuild. Does this make any sense?

Yes, it does make sense. There are seals on the crankshaft to stop that from happening. Force is not unique in that aspect.

It has to come apart to have those seals replaced.
