Re: force head gasket

BOB, you gotta look at the exhaust gaskets between exhaust manifold and block. they are a common problem...when they fail the bottom cylinder usually gets wet...have fun they are a royal pain in the arse....

Re: force head gasket

yea .but it,s for a L-drive ,a local aluminum shop here might try to weld it ,the weld on the center deflector broke loose.the local boat shop here said it can be welded.what do you think, and how much for yours ,,and thanks

Re: force head gasket

A LOCAL MACHINE SHOP WELDED A ALL NEW ONE IN IT .AND I NOTICE THE BRAND NEW ONES DON,T EVEN COME WITH A DEFLECTOR.BUT I HAVE A NOTHER PROBLEM ,ONE OF THE CLYINDER NO.2 ON THE TOP PART HAS A GOOD MARK IN IT ,ALL OTHERS LOOK GOOD ,I CLEANED IT UP SANDED A LITTLE AND HONED IT LITTLE GOT SOME OF IT OUT THEN I USED A LITTLE J-B WELD ON IT AND SANDED SMOOTH. THINK THAT WILL HOLD UP ,OR IS THERE SOMETHING BETTER.WITH OUT TAKING IT ALL APART.THE COMP. IN THAT CYLINDER BEFORE I TOOK IT APART WAS 125.WHAT DO YOU THINK..THANKS

Re: force head gasket

I have a 97 force 120 well maintained, with only 180 hours on it and I am now in the process of my THIRD head gasket! When I got my boat in 97 I thought I got a good deal my only regret is the fact that I didn't upgrade to a better motor. CHEAP THINGS ARE NOT GOOD, GOOD THINGS ARE NOT CHEAP! And by the way last fall when I blew the last head gasket I did get the head shaved, other then the first year this motor has been trouble! I hear you calling me Yamaha 150!

Re: force head gasket

Bob you had a post on props for your Force. For six weeks I've been shopping for used props and I've ended up three that are different than my 19". <br /> 1 a 17" cupped<br /> 2 a 21"<br /> 3 a 19" four bladed composite<br />So far I would say cupped is worth only 1" more.

Stainless are not a good idea here because everyone hits bottom atleast once a year. I picked up those 3 props used and for the price of a new one.
