I have a '96 40hp Tracker/Force outboard. I need a manual. Should I be using the Mercury? What is the difference between Mercury and Force?

You need a Force service manual. part #90-831250. Any Mercury dealer can order you one.

I dont know the exact year they started but mercury marine began making motors for force in the late 1990s.The sears gamefisher is the same exact motor.Try the sears website for parts.Sears may not have made the higher hp motors.they were mostly small outboards. If it is not there try force, the mercury motor is different.

And Chrysler.
Merc bought up these companies, and manufactured the motors on the same old lines that made them for the previous companies, with very minor changes, like paint color and ignition systems.
But it's totally different from Mercury's Mercury named engine line.

Thanks for the input. I need to replace the impeller and the only window I have for the next 7 weekends is this weekend so I'll cross my fingers that one of the few dealers has one in stock as I can't afford the time to order one.
