Ok, have been trying out a 97 starcraft superfisherman, with a 75hp force motor. Boat does 33mph tops. (gps), I would have thaought it would do better than that...are the force motors over rated on the horsepower.
boat weighs 1200 pounds, and useing a 14 pitch prop....
Havent baought boat yet, because not sure of force motors....like I say, seems underpowered.

ok, are the 96 force motors a decent motor. Or should I keep looking for a merc or other name motor.
I know they dont make force any more. A buddy at work said they arent as reliable , or as powerfull as the other brands.
thanks mike

Re: Force motor, hp rateing over rated

Well, Mike, your buddy is wrong.

Those Force engines are rated by the same rules as Mercs and JohnnyRudes. They are not as technically sophisticated as many other brands and some parts are not easy to find, but they work. (So do Yugos. :) )

If you are getting 33mph with a 75HP outboard sporting a 14" prop on a 1200# boat you are doing very well. What rpm are you turning at 33mph? It must be pretty wound up.

rpms are about 4800,,,, motor works well, just not sure about force. Dont know much about them.
boat has maybe 100 hours on it. Did a compression test and got 125 psi on all three cylenders....
