Re: Force rebuild or not.
Well, it lasted 12years so far. There are lots of old Forces out there, still chuggin allong, but only you can answer your question, really. Do you feel confident enough to tackle this job, or do you want a shop to do it? If you go with a shop, it's going to be just as expensive to buy another used engine. Also, a practical rebuild would rely on a good block, with only slight internal damage to work with. For instance, if you threw a rod, and the pieces wiped-out the crankshaft, it probably wouldn't be cost-effective, even if you rebuilt it yourself.<br />It will take time and lots of cash, but could actually be fun and rewarding (not that I can't wait until mine gets holy piston syndrome, but I do like to tinker with that stuff). I have an old Merc out there now, but must wait for rebuild money and cooler garage temps (it's hotter than Haedes out there now).
