Im installing a 1984 115 evinrude. As I remove the old Force stuff from my boat I have two questions/issues. One is the bolts holding the old motor that go thru the transom...one is coiming out fine...the other is in there like concrete...got the nuts off just cant get the bolt to move...tired lots of stuff...even an impact wrench. Other issue is more Evinrude related...my old controls have the wire with plug leading to the motor of course and it also has wires leading under the dash...the New (used) controls for OMC do not have the second set of wires heading under the dash...not sure what to do. Any help would be great...thanks.

The wires heading under the dash, were they the ignition wires? If so, does the new-to-you OMC controls have the ignition switch built into it? Assuming that's the case, then there's part of your answer. And since I have a tendancy to confuse more than to clarify, what I'm asking is was the Force's key switch separately installed on the dash and the OMC's part of the controls itself? That could be part of the equation, although I'd think you'd still need wires going to a fuse block/panel. More than likely, you're missing part of the wiring.

Underneath my dash is the main fuse panel which is what everything is wired into. The ignition switch is part of the control box, and then it is wired into the main 'power block'. There should also be wiring for the trim/tilt (if you have that option). Have you looked under your dash?

control box for force has ign. key in control box...as does the new OMC control. Under the dash is a bunch of fuse blocks and wires to gauges etc...a few wires lead from force control to fuse block. No tilt / trim on either motor...i suppose I could leave those wires where they are under the dash but I am not sure which wire to splice them into in the new box....if thats even possible...

Sounds like what you need is a OEM service manual. That will have a wiring schematic to show you which wires go where. Obviously, things like tachometer, etc. are specific to a certain posts and/or colors. The book will reveal it. I'd stay away from the Seloc type manuals, if at all possible, because a lot of guys say they are both incomplete and confusing.
