Force to Mercury conversion

Hi: I need some advice. I pulled the blown 1985 Force 50 off my Bayliner and am replacing it with a 1968 Merc 650 (Cause that's what I found and could afford). I can use the steering control as is. The steering cables from the 68 are too long and I would like to use the cables from the Force, which are already in place. However, they have different hookup's on the engine. Is there a conversion kit of some kind available, or should I find a Force and get parts for it? My old engine is already gone.

Is the shift mechanism in the engine the same for Force and Merc?

Also, I kept the tilt/trim from the Force, what do I need to hook it up to the Mercury? The mount bracket on the Merc doesn't have the mounting holes for the TT motor.

Thanks in advance
