Re: force water pump

Hey Mike

Take a look at www.boatingsolutions.com they sell the impellor kit for about 25 bucks. Its basically the impellor and gaskets. Its a good price considering my local shop wanted 37 just for the impellor. I bought the shop manual for 23 bucks at Amazon.com, everwhere else they wanted over 33 bucks for it.

He's right. I just bought an impeller kit at boatingsolutions.com. It's alot cheaper than anywhere else that I found. I have a 1991 Force 120 & just changed mine last weekend. You don't really need a manual. All you have to remove is about 8 bolts and the shifting arm.... I damn sure couldn't wait 2 weeks.

well safevet im in vancouver british columbia so i dont think your going to come all this way to show me
last night after not being able to find any info or diagrams on the net i decided to take matters into my own hands
this is my first outboard and ive never even seen one apart before so i didnt even know where the impellor was located
after alot of humming and hawwing i decided to open the tool box
and good thing i started with the lower unit
i drained the oil but i dont think i really needed to
all in all it took me about 40 minutes to have it all put back together with the new impellor

after having it apart i can see theres not really much to an outboard

i read a few posts about it and that did help

i think the hardest part was lining up the driveshaft and the shift rod at the same time while holding the lower unit

Mike
Glad you dove in and replaced the impeller.
Now as far as draining the oil you didnt have to do this, but it needs to be changed anyway and this way you know what you have.
Best of luck and have fun on the lake...
