After I installed new intake and carb I took boat out and she ran beautifully...not a single issue....next day I was running it on muffs and one of the hoses coming from thermostat housing blew off...no rhyme or reason. Temp was same as always. I suspected maybe rad cap....I changed it for a 16 psi and again on muffs....the other hose blew off...normal temp...any suggestions

Does your thermostat housing have a bypass? Try drilling 2 3/16" holes in the t-stat flange

Yes it does...and there is a hole in thermostat located at the top....it's never done this before

Drop the cap pressure down to 12 psi maybe.

The one that I suspected was a 13 when it first blew hose

Seems odd it blows off in my driveway and not while I was honking on it wide open

No other suggestions, come on guys lol
Tighten the hose clamp...
Seriously have you tried a new hose clamp on it? Is this hose on the raw water side or AF side? If on the AF side is there enough room for expansion? If no expansion tank on an older design run the AF level lower. On older cars with expansion tanks if you top the radiator slap azz full it will build enough pressure to puke out the top. Maybe what you have happening here.

If on raw water side you have a blockage down stream in manifolds or risers (is yours full or half system)

I have new clamps...it's af side...I have an expansion tank...it's doing its job from I see...I'm not sure how to tell if it's full or half system...like I say it has never done this before. It doesn't run hot...it doesn't leak....just 2 times now the hoses blew off

Full system includes the exhaust manifolds in the af side of system. Half system doesn’t cool the exhaust manifolds with af, they get cooled with hit raw water after it goes through heat exchanger. If the hose that is blowing discharges af from thermo housing to manifold and manifold is plugged could build enough pressure to blow a hose off

sort of like the polish terrorist asked to blow up a bus and comes back with lips burned from the exhaust?

Yes, I have a Polish ancestry and I am not offended by my own joke.

I was my 14psi coolant cap ... merc manual ....you did the engine components and filled the coolant .. then run the engine and take off the cap ... then the air bubbles of the coolant ...then the cap lock up ....

I was changing my 2000 Silverado coolant , then the cap is off and running the engine then the air bubbles ,,,,, then is very good of the heater HVAC ..

I had that issue before I had engine rebuilt. It would push the af out of the expansion tank as if it was boiling over..however it wasn't hot...I have ordered the test kit and will check...

Thanks for confirming, given your answers we had suspected something in the gene pool for years...
